About

Our Story

Established in 1989 as a family home, POLAS was originally self-designed and built by our founding generation. What began as a house evolved into stone guesthouses, created with the intention of welcoming friends. As our family expanded, the main house and stone cottages underwent transformations. The internal courtyard became a versatile events venue, complemented by a quaint chapel added across the garden. Our guesthouses comfortably accommodate 20 people. Since hosting our inaugural social event in 2004, we have been consistently operating as an events venue, welcoming guests and travelers throughout the year.

The Present

With the new generation of our family at the helm, the space is undergoing a transformative upgrade. Our mission is to facilitate the crafting of unforgettable experiences, drawing inspiration from the Mediterranean lifestyle. To achieve this, we are once again reshaping our space into a dynamic year-round collaboration and event venue, offering immersive stays infused with art and nature.

Location

Avia’s Origins

In the location where Avia stands today, historians and archaeologists would place the Homeric city of Ire, which in Homer’s Iliad is referred to as "poiessa", that is, a land so lush, verdant and fertile that it resembles of poetry.
